Introduktion
'Uproar' er en humoristisk coming of age-fortælling, som foregår i New Zealand i starten af 1980’erne. Her blusser kampen for national anerkendelse op i māori-befolkningen.

- Læs hver især om māori-kulturen her
Grupper
- Hvad betyder raceadskillelse (i Sydafrika)?
- Hvem havde stor betydning for raceadskillelsens ophør i Sydafrika?
- Undersøg rugby-touren ”The Springbok Tour”.

Handling
Interview
I grupper / i klassen
Sådan gør I:
1. Find sammen i grupper på 2-3 personer
2. Vælg roller:
- 1 interviewer (vært på “programmet”)
- 1 eller flere personer fra filmen, som interviewes
I kan vælge mellem:
- Josh
- Jamie
- Mor
- Grace
- Tui
- Dramalæreren Madigan
3. Lav en kort introduktion. Intervieweren kan fx starte sådan her:

Temaer
Ungdom og valg i livet
To og to
Se klippet nedenfor og svar på spørgsmålene to og to:
- Hvordan udtrykker Josh sine følelser i klippet?
Alene / to og to
Afspil svarene for din makker.
KLIP: Josh bønfalder sin lærer
Protest og civil ulydighed
I grupper

Alene
Læs om lys, lyd og musik. Løs derefter de nedenstående opgaver i grupper.
Det afgørende valg
Grupper
- Hvilken type belysning bliver brugt? Hvad gør belysningen for den stemning instruktøren forsøger at skabe?
- Lysets retning skaber fokus.
Protestscenen
Alene / i grupper
Analyser protestscenen, som Josh filmer.
- Hvilke filmiske virkemidler bliver brugt i denne scene for at skabe spænding og alvor?

Dramaturgi
Berettermodel i skotøjsæske
Alene / i grupper / i klassen

Genre
Drama og coming of age
Alene / i grupper
Læs hver i sær om ungdomsfilm, herunder coming of age.
- Hvilke typiske temaer findes i coming of age fortællinger?
Hvordan?
- Hvilke konflikter er typiske i coming of age, og hvilke optræder i ‘Uproar’?
- Hvordan spiller miljøet (skole, by, familie, samfund) en rolle i Joshs udvikling?
- Hvordan påvirker den politiske situation i New Zealand i 1981 filmens handling?

Introduction
Introduction
Uproar is a coming-of-age film set in New Zealand in 1981. The story follows 17-year-old Josh Waaka, a boy who feels different and unsure about where he belongs.
Josh is half-Māori and half-European, and he lives with his mother and older brother. He attends to a strict boys’ school where rugby is everything – but Josh dreams of something else.
At the same time, there are large protests across the country because the South African rugby team is visiting. Many people are angry because South Africa still enforces apartheid – a system that separates people based on race.
As the world around him begins to change, Josh must decide: Who is he? What does he believe in? And will he stay quiet – or stand up for what he feels is right?
